Transient Orcas will often hunt in very shallow water along shore lines. They are hoping to discover a Harbour Seal sleeping under a rock. Once they do find a seal they will work as a team to prevent the seal from getting back to the surface to breath. It is much safer for the Orcas to drown the seal rather than be in a physical confrontation with it. We did observe this family of 5, including a mother with a very young calf, make a kill.
