We love this city and with so many fascinating and fun activities to do here, we wanted to share them with you to make your visit even more enjoyable! Not surprisingly, whale watching with us is first on the list 🙂
1. Whale Watching With SpringTide:
Come join us for the height of Victoria’s whale watching season here at SpringTide! July is an amazing month to catch some time with our favourite whales: Killer Whales – both our Resident and Transient pods, and Humpback Whales. Our High-Speed Zodiacs are a fun, adventurous ride for a family with children above 4 feet (121 cm) in height while our Covered Vessel, Marauder IV, is our ocean cruiser that is perfect for the whole families including expecting mothers.
2. Brave the Creepy-Crawlies at The Victoria Bug Zoo:
The Bug Zoo offers excellent viewing opportunities of over 40 different species of tropical bugs! View an entire ant colony at work in see-through tubing or get up-close-and-personal with hairy tarantulas. The staff at this mini-zoo will even take some of the critters out of their enclosures!
The Bug Zoo is open 10am-5pm Monday through Friday and is open until 6pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
3. Take in history at the Royal British Columbia Museum:
The museum is a great way for the whole family to take in fun and learning! With exhibits that are constantly changing, the museum offers a wide variety of topics for everyone’s interests and usually has an Imax film to compliment what you see in the museum. The Victoria Imax is the largest Imax screen in British Columbia and offers both 2D and 3D film options. Currently, the Museum is featuring their Mammoth exhibit with a preserved baby mammoth specimen! Why not catch their Mammoth Imax film after seeing the real life version?
Hours of operation are 10am-5pm Sunday through Thursday and 10am-10pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
4. Picnic in Beacon Hill Park:
Take in the beautiful sights of Beacon Hill Park, with its beautiful blooming flowers, fountains and duck ponds, and resident Peacocks; the park has a lot to offer! It is also home to the tallest totem pole in Canada (128 feet tall!), has a children’s petting zoo, and faces on to the ocean where you can try and spot some harbour seals! It’s a beautiful spot to spend an afternoon.
5. Wonder at the tiny sights of Miniature World:
Miniature World has over 85 exciting miniature dioramas and displays to transport you back in time to 2201 AD all the way up to present day. It is one of the most popular tourist attractions in DownTown Victoria. The tiny worlds are something the whole family can marvel at.
Their hours of operation are 9am-9pm, seven days a week.
6. Navigate the seas with Victoria Kayak:
Participate in Victoria Kayak’s 3 hour guided tours to see the Victoria Harbour as well as try and get a different vantage point to see local wildlife. With special kayaks to include children less than 4 years of age, this is a great way to get active and out in the sunshine!
They operate from 9am-4pm Sunday through Thursday and 9am-6pm Fridays and Saturdays.
