FUN FACT: Victoria is one of North America’s Most Haunted Cities!

It’s spooky season and we would like to share some awesome ideas of things to do in Victoria on Halloween!

Whether you are young & single or just young at heart, whether you have young kids or you’re just a big kid yourself, Victoria has something for everyone this October!

Here are some of SpringTide’s Top Picks:

 

  1. Vancouver Island Corn Maze

This is a great activity for the whole family! Pendray Farms turns its corn fields into a massive maze that is fun and challenging for people of all ages. Play a game of Clue inside the maze and make your way from marker to marker with great difficulty! It is open until October 31st and is open every day except Monday and Tuesday!

  1. Ghost Bus Tours

These annual tours are now in their 25th year! While sitting in a comfy bus, the 2 hour tour cruises by some of Victoria’s most haunted places (which there are many!) The routes are different every year and always include 2 stops where you get off the bus and get some first-hand experience at ghost hunting!

Reservations are required as buses do sell out. Tickets can be bought at www.ticketrocket.co.

  1. Festival of Fear

Every year, Galey Farms puts on The Festival of Fear which has a ton of different spooky things to do all in one place! There is a Haunted House for kids, a MUCH scarier 6000 sq. foot Carnevil Haunted House for adults, the Cornfield of Horror, Crazy Train and Madame Isabella’s Séance. It is fun for the whole family and highly recommended!

Admission: The first ticket for any of the four venues is $10 per adult and $7 per child. Second, third and fourth venue ticket may be purchased for only $5 more each.

 

  1. Wicked Victoria

On Saturday, October 25th, Government Street (between Courtney and Yates Street) will shut down for cars and an awesome free family event will take place in the street! From noon to 5 pm, you’ll see performances from a ton of local acts, activities, games, and much more on “Boo Boulevard”. Definitely not an event to be missed!

  1. Haunted Zipline

Want an even more adrenaline-filled spooky adventure? Head to AdrenaLINE in Sooke for its Haunted Zipline Tour. With tours starting in the evening, you’ll be flying through a dark rainforest with speeds up to 60km/hr with only the light of your headlamp showing you the way! It’s recommended to book early to avoid disappointment.

  1. Pumpkin Art on Oak Bay Avenue

Head to Oak Bay Village to see some stunning and impressive Pumpkin Art! Hundreds of pumpkins will be on display, all carved into the likes of cartoon characters, celebrities and much more! The display will be open from 5-9 pm, but beforehand, enjoy a special “trick or treat” from the local Oak Bay Village merchants. There will also be a bonfire in Fireman’s Park with hot dogs, delicious hot chocolate and costume contests!

  1. Halloween Dance

If you are looking for somewhere a little funkier this Halloween, head over to the classiest spot in town! The funk band “Groove Kitchen” will be performing live at Hermann’s Jazz Club and you can show off your funk, soul and Latin dance moves in your best costume!

  1. Halloween Spooktacular Fireworks

Looking to celebrate Halloween with more of a bang? Well then you better head over to the Bear Mountain Resort for their Spooktacular Fireworks! The festivities will start at 6 pm with live entertainment, carnival games and lots of local food. The fireworks will start at dusk!

  1. Masquerade Ball at the Empress

This is definitely not an event to be missed! The annual Masquerade Ball at the Fairmont Empress is the party of the season! Held in the Crystal Ballroom, it is a night full of live opera, dance performances, live and silent auctions and of course an amazing feast! Walk the red carpet in your elegant evening wear or stunning period costume – masks are mandatory, with a limited number available at the door.   1. Spinnakers Halloween Party
